InfoGEECS stands for "GEECS for Electrical Engineering and Computer Science". Yes, it's a recursive acronym. Well, what do we do? Stuff with computers mainly. We do stuff that the RCCs (Residential Computer Consultants) aren't supposed to do, or don't even know. We are the vigilante computer helpers. But aside from that, what's the club's purpose? IshmaelIshmael is a RedHat Linux 8.0 server sitting in the basement of the Cutler Science Building, on the Mount Hermon Campus. It's main service is to be a mail server for alumni who wouldn't have one anyway. But, because we aren't content in having a static machine, we plan on having it do many things. Maybe webserve. Maybe proxy. But for now, all it is, is a smtp server. More SSH vs. TelnetWe block telnet connections, mainly because it's unsafe/insecure. Please use SSH (Secure SHell) when connecting to ishmael. The address is the same as the url: ishmael.nmhschool.org AccountsTo get an account... go to NMH. If you went to NMH, and you used to have an account, we promise to get those up and running soon. We have all the hard drives, and it's a matter of moving the accounts from the old ones to the new one. More |
