ishmaelCall me Ishmael.ishmael.GEECS.org (204.252.20.9), or ishmael.nmh.northfield.ma.us, or ishmael.ml.org, is a Linux server operated at Northfield Mount Hermon School by GEECS for Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, the student computer users' group. ishmael serves more than 150 users from six continents, running on a 486DX2/66 with 16MB RAM and 170MB and 4GB hard drives. It runs Linux 2.0.33. Some usage statistics for ishmael and web server statistics are available here; both are automatically updated every hour. The usage statistics are also available to ishmael users by typing "stats" from the prompt. You can access an individual ishmael user's web page as "http://ishmael.GEECS.org/~userid", where "userid" is the person's username on ishmael. Send mail to root@ishmael.GEECS.org if you have any problems or questions. If you want an account on ishmael, you can probably get one, especially since so much disk space is now available. E-mail root@ishmael.GEECS.org to request an account. There is also a SparcStation IPX kicking around under the name of cartier.
